Matariki Song Remix

So this week, to celebrate and acknowledge the upcoming Maori New Year, one of our tasks were to choose a song and then remix the lyrics to something relevant to Matariki. I chose the song Da Coconut Nut because I couldn’t think of anything else and remixed the lyrics. I hope you don’t mind it the parts don’t rhyme and that are some bits that needs understanding. So here it is, and I hope you like it!

 

The Matariki stars is a giant group

If you look to much, your eye’ll get very sore

Now, the Matariki starsis a big, big group

But this bright group is not just 1

 

It have 9 stars  (it have 9 stars)

Of the Maori Calendar (of the Maori calendar)

For they want to feed family

 

There are so many uses of the Matarikis

You can aim a time to feed the family

All you need is to wait till the Matariki rises

If it rises in the east, you can feed ya family

The Matariki stars tell you the time

If it rises in the east, you can harvest your thyme

Now, the Matariki food, do eat it a lot. 

For all you need is, to get more

It can grant all your wishes if you pray it would

You can look at it and decide on a day to hunt food

For the people, for the land against the bads

Now, the kereru bird, say my relatives

Make good feast food up for the peeps
